The team at Advantage Feeders is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for sheep farmers looking to enhance or implement their feedlotting operations and learn about the benefits of controlled feeding. As part of our commitment to innovation and industry education, we’re hitting the road for a two-week Feedlotting & Controlled Feeding Masterclass tour across New South Wales.
If you’re keen to learn cutting-edge, cost-saving strategies while supporting a great cause, this event is for you!
Building on the Success of Our October Masterclass
Our Lamb Feedlotting Masterclass in October at our Advantage Feeders farm saw an incredible turnout, offering a valuable opportunity to gain insights into the challenges farmers are currently facing and reflect on last season’s experiences. Plus, the event featured a full tour of the NEW 5000-head automated feedlot in operation on the farm.
Some of the attendees’ key concerns were the difficulty in selling store lambs last season and the uncertainty surrounding current market conditions. Many farmers expressed frustration at being forced to sell their lambs at low prices, feeling powerless against market fluctuations.
A well-structured sheep feedlot provides farmers with the flexibility to hold onto livestock during market downturns, ensuring they can capitalise on price improvements. By converting store lambs into finished lambs, farmers can take advantage of premium market rates. Additionally, a lot feeding system offers an opportunity to buy undervalued store lambs, strategically feed them using grain feeder, and sell them at higher prices once the market stabilises.
Thanks to the fantastic support from our attendees, we raised $20,689 for the National Centre for Farmer Health from the October event. Now, we’re eager to build on that success with our upcoming tour!
Putting Theory into Practice
This masterclass isn’t just about theory—it’s about practical, hands-on learning. Our sessions will cover:
- Feedlot design and successful implementation – Setting up an efficient lamb feedlot infrastructure to maximise livestock feeding
- Using feeders for induction and controlled feeding – Understanding the benefits of controlled supplementary feeding with grain and pellet feeders.
- Operating the Advantage Feeders automated feedlot – A look at how automated feeding systems improve feed conversion efficiency and profitability.
- Identifying and resolving animal health issues – Best practices in preventative health management for sheep feedlots.
Attendees will also get an exclusive look at a segment of our latest innovation: the 5000-head automated feedlot. This cutting-edge system is designed to help farmers maximise efficiency and improve livestock outcomes, even in challenging market conditions.
